Julia Speropoulos is a Greek American artist/animator/director/producer who began her artistic journey at a very young age, when she won first prize at a National Greek competition, a gold medal for her gouache painting "Spring Scenery," where she won a 20-day scholarship to Paris. She also won a silver medal, with a honorable mention the previous year for the oil pastel mixed media painting "The Hawk And The Snake".
Upon high school graduation and all throughout her years as as student at Florida International University, Julia had been commissioning iconography paintings (egg tempera, antiqued technique), and other works of art using various mediums such as oil, acrylic and more. She has also held several exhibitions in various venues in Greece and the USA. After a sabbatical for several years on art due to her career as an actress/performer in theater, and as a film director/producer at JS FILM PRODUCTIONS, she's back in the game. She started receiving training in 2020 at Creature Art Teacher on art/animation/character design with the great Disney director/animator/character designer/artist Aaron Blaise and other great artists. In 2021, she completed the animation segments in her first feature film, an award-winning creative documentary titled "2 Miles From Home." She's currently animating her first hand-drawn animation film titled "AGAPI," released in January 2025.
As a film director/producer, Julia's credits include award-winning documentary short "Jean" (2017), award-winning mid-length documentary "Yubi" (2018), "APHASIA" experimental film (2018), and award-winning feature creative documentary "2 Miles From Home" (2021). Her films have travelled to various festivals across the globe. Collaborations with channels include among others the Greek national channel ERT, and Cosmote TV History, with which she has collaborated for the last 3 years for acquisition of film rights in Greece and Cyprus.
She graduated with a theater arts degree in acting from Florida International University (Bachelor of Arts in Theatre). She also studied at New York Film Academy, NY, where she learned filmmaking and acting for film.
