Julia D. Speropoulos is a leading actress, singer, dancer, and director, having developed an extensive career not only in the theater, but also in film and television in Athens Greece, as well as in the USA. Born and raised in Miami, Florida, the Greek American actress has been performing all her life from an early age, having a broad experience as a performer.
As an actress in the theater, Julia performed in “Free Rider”, her first play as a writer, produced in Athens in 2011. She is also known for playing the lead role of Dorothy in the “Wizard of Oz”.
Having an extensive experience in television, Julia has hosted the “Greek Sewer Stories Metropolis” show by the Dutch channel “VPRO”. She has also appeared on TV, in New York city productions, such as ABC Studios production of Marvel’s “Kick” and “Mr.Robot.”
Being a versatile artist, in addition to her accomplishments as a performer, Julia is a director and documentarian, making her directorial debut with the short, award-winning documentary “Jean.” She recently completed her first award-winning, mid-length documentary “Yubi” and the experimental short film “Aphasia.” Currently her first feature documentary film "2 Miles From Home" has World Premiered at Los Angeles Greek Film Festival.
Julia’s love for performing started at an early age. Since the age of 4 she’s been training in various dance styles, such as ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, flamenco, and tap. Music was also a part of her life, receiving classical training in piano, and musical theater singing with belt-mix technique.
She graduated with a theater arts degree in acting from Florida International University (Bachelor of Arts in Theatre). She also studied at New York Film Academy, NY, where she learned filmmaking and acting for film.
Julia enjoys in inspiring others with her films, as well as passing on her artistic knowledge to the younger generations through teaching.
